Centra, BCN  

Director of Marketing and Executive Producer, 1999 to 2000

  • Recruited Speakers, Analysts, & Editors to produce 20 unique events in 8 weeks (eCommerce, Training, Web Marketing, eBusiness, etc) These events attracted an additional 4,000 CentraNow members.
  • Develop future strategy and direction of the CentraBCN
  • Develop new business by acquiring channel partners to host their content (virtual events or webinars on our CentraBCN site)
  • Built membership from 0-10,000 users in five months
  • Developed the Collaborati Sweepstakes program, which utilized Centra's collaboration tool to promote the product to new users.

Oracle (previously known as Concentra)

  • Team leader in the Direct Marketing Initiative. Managed the creation, content, and production of numerous direct marketing campaigns focused at driving booth traffic, qualified leads to the web site, and inquiries to our telemarketing staff.
  • Developed an interactive web site to increase activities from our channel sales partners and customers and prospects. Worked with an interactive promotion agency on a sweepstakes offer.
  • Developed a marketing plan that successfully drove traffic and new business to the site: goconfigure.oracle.com
  • Team leader in the Product Launch Initiative. The product launch was in conjunction with an industry-wide event, Sales Force Automation Show
  • Constructed a new booth. Developed a booth plan and theme, produced a multimedia demonstration, software demonstrations, targeted direct mail, aggressive advertising and promotional activities in less than a quarter.
  • After 14 weeks, promoted from Manager to Director of Marketing Communications

CMGi  

Director of Marketing Communications, 1994 to 1998

  • Managed a $2.5 million marketing budget for the majority-owned subsidiaries.
  • Created and managed CMGi's internal marketing agency, which helped all the new CMGi incubating and @Ventures companies with their marketing needs. Provided direction for product development, strategic planning and integrated marketing programs. Worked with the new Internet companies in product positioning and product launches. For example, created an Open House for NaviSite Internet Services, which resulted in two feature stories in publications.
  • Managed the creation, content, and production of the corporate web site ( CMGi.com ). Traffic increased 40% in three months from previous design and content.
  • Revamped the investor relations section of the web site and increased orders by 60% in three months for investment information.
  • Created an intranet (cmgnews.com) which enabled communication amongst the 21 CMG Internet affiliated and investment companies. This initiative introduced new companies, products launches, and accomplishments. As a result of the intranet, sales and marketing at the companies created strategic marketing opportunities for new clients.
  • Developed/established/launched a seminar targeted to Educational Marketers that generated $43K in new revenue for the company.
  • Developed a direct mail campaign that generated $48K in new revenue and pulled a 6% response rate. This campaign earned a New England Direct Marketing Shoestring Award, 1995.
  • Researched and placed online advertising for one of CMGi's new companies. Responsible for the creative and tabulating, managing, evaluating, metrics which led to the success of the campaign. Campaign resulted in $28K in new business.
  • Won 2 BMA Star Awards: Total Communications Program and Trade Show Exhibit 1997.

PennWell Publishing    

Director of Marketing Communications, 1987 to 1994

  • Managed a budget in excess of $1 million for marketing and promotion, seminars, conferences, conventions, and exhibits; consistently ended the year below budget
  • Created a video and direct mail program which provided an overview of Computer Graphics World. Campaign produced a 7% response rate and generated $35K in new revenue as a result of the campaign.
  • Developed key account programs targeted at executive management to generate sales leads for four publications. Sales increased by 75% in six months.
  • Launched three new magazines, Computer Artist, Color Publishing, and Computer Graphics World Asia-Pacific. Acquired the magazine TypeWorld which was later repositioned as Electronic Publishing.
  • Worked on-site for 16 annual trade shows, 8 seminars and conferences.
  • Produced and managed the Machover Computer Graphics conference targeted at CEOs, Presidents of computer graphics companies. Generated $62K in new revenue.
  • Bartered with vendors for services (ad space, trade show booth space, mailing lists, incentive items) Saved the company over $275K in services.
  • Managed a sales effort that resulted in $78K of single copy sales of The CGW Buyers Guide. Measured the results of advertising, direct mail, and telemarketing. 216 of the revenue came from direct mail.
  • Won the PennWell Performance Plus Award of Excellence in 1988, 1989, and 1990.
  • Awarded the 2 BPAA ProComm Awards for Best Media Kit, 1989 and 1992.
